The last three weeks have been a fantastic time as we have had many opportunities to share our unique products with the community in and around Toronto.

Our top product has been the Bazura Bags which are made from pre-consumer waste gathered from juice container manufacturers around the globe before they end up in landfills. These one-of-a-kind bags are made in a traditional box weave pattern, taking over a day to craft each one, and come in a never ending assortment of colors and designs. We love these bags and so did many of our customers we encountered.

We traveled to Nathan Square early in June to celebrate the 112th Philippine Independence Day with two full days of cultural dancing, music, food and vendors!

We spent a couple of great days promoting our eco-friendly Bazura Bags. Although our other products like Bidet Power Spray, our slippers, wallets, key chains, tote and grocery bags sold well, many visitors to our booth had wonderful things to say about the recycled bags and accessories. The fact that they help the environment and provide a livelihood to the local folks in the Philippines were enough to make them buy. People are now very conscious of our environment and dealing with garbage seems to be one of their biggest concerns, so the Bazura Bags were a hit!

After the celebration in Nathan Square, we also spent some time volunteering in conjunction with the G20 Summit in Toronto, which involved providing information about the City of Toronto to visitors who were staying at the Novotel Hotel.

That gave us the opportunity to show off one of our popular mini woven Bazura Bag .  I really like to use the long-handled woven bag because it’s very handy when I need to carry only essential things like my cell phone, camera, credit cards, a few business cards, keys, lipstick, pen, hand lotion, facial tissues, and even a few candies!

This bag is convenient to carry especially at my volunteer assignments when there is no locker provided in the premises to store purses. So, as you can see, our Bazura woven bags are getting some great attention from earth-conscious consumers around the world.

We’ve had a great 2009 and continue to enjoy this positive energy through 2010. Having just recently spent vacation in beautiful, sunny Philippines, our team managed to form new relationships with a great group of local farmers, producers, manufacturers and cooperatives. This, of course, is in the continued spirit of creating new markets for the livelihood projects and social entrepreneurial programs with which we engage.
